Unique Fall Color Combinations

fall colors for a weddingAs fall approaches I seem to be contemplating color schemes again. Traditionally, fall colors are golds, browns and oranges but I think we can come up with some new fall color combinations that would be a more unique twist for your wedding. Let’s take a look at a few…

Greens, Blues, Reds & Oranges

Who says green isn’t a fall color? Sure the leaves are changing but evergreen trees and shrubs, mums and some leaves still have a hue of green during the fall. It’s not the bright, kelly or lime green of the spring and summer or the hunter green associated with Christmas and winter but green is definitely an overlooked color for fall weddings.

To give you the color combinations possible with greens for fall, let’s take a look at some wedding invitations and save the date cards:

The first example above is a monochromatic olive green color scheme it really is beautiful and the lace accent makes it wedding-ish. The middle option is a more retro-modern take for a fall wedding. I love the way the design seamlessly combines the traditional fall colors of brown and orange with the unexpected accent colors in shades of red and blue.

The last option is perfect for an elegant fall wedding. The swirls incorporate a few colors including dark yellow, orange and red-orange with the olive green. All three of these designs would be uniquely different for a fall wedding.

Outside the Box for Fall Weddings

You don’t have to use leaves, acorns, pumpkins or any of the traditional symbols of fall for your wedding. The color scheme can have an unexpected pop of a color not normally associated with autumn. One of my favorite colors to use as a pop in the fall is teal or turquiose. It’s different or out of the norm when you think of fall colors.

These designs are from Zazzle.com. You can browse through the thousands that are ready to be customized to make your own truly unique design with a print on demand company like Zazzle. I love them!

Sometimes a Pop is the Unexpected you Want

If you still are drawn to the traditional colors of fall, fear not. It can be made uniquely your design in the decor, invitations, cake and more by simply adding a pop of an unexpected colored.

For fall, consider a turquoise shade of blue for burlap ribbon accents, or a pop of dark red simulated diamond wrap around a candle holder or vase. It really doesn’t take much. An accent is just that — not a main color but an accent.

For one fall wedding I did, we used a neat combination of table linens. A chocolate brown was the base color with an olive green overlay. At first I wasn’t sure I was gonna like it until I remembered it duplicated the colors of an evergreen tree! Sometimes you just have to try those colors you don’t think sound good. They may be, visually, the unique look you are after!
