The Engagement Ring for a Unique Bride

The engagement of my daughter was an exciting and happy time in my world. But, my daughter is one of those future brides who can be classified as offbeat. So her engagement ring was definitely different.

This is a woman who will dress for the evening in a retro dress from the 1950’s, add a silk shawl, and antique jewelry. She has no fear in adding a pair of 1960’s go-go boots to complete her outfit. Doesn’t sound right until you see it all pulled together. Stunning!

Ergo, a stunning engagement ring. Her husband-to-be searched long and hard to find just the right ring for her. It’s from the Edwardian period, which places its creation during the first decade of the 1900’s. He chose right, don’t you think?

The proposal was just as unique. He was in China on a two-month teaching assignment. She met him for a two-week tour of Viet Nam. The first night together, they took a boat cruise and it was there he brought the ring out. Offbeat, yes. Romantic, definitely!

The call to all the parents came the next day. After the flutter of excitement, my daughter asked, “Mom, will you help me plan the perfect wedding?” And the answer, of course, was a resounding “YES.” Which launched a fun but huge change for me. Offbeat, unusual, possibly funky, but definitely unique wedding.
