You want your wedding to be different, unique. In order to pull that off, you need to put yourself, your personality, your likes out there. One inventive and unique way to do that is with your wedding stationery — particularly, your program.

Wedding stationery

Just thinking about all the different stationery items people use for weddings is overwhelming. Here’s a little list of some of the stationery items most weddings use:

  • Save the Dates
  • Invitations (rsvp’s, maps, reception cards, envelopes)
  • Programs
  • escort cards
  • place cards
  • Menus
  • Thank You’s

Wow, that’s a lot.¬†What if you decide to save a few trees and make a more all encompassing, one-stop-shop with your program? It could be fun and definitely unique.

Wedding Newsletter

Instead of handing out normal programs at the church, hand out a wedding newsletter. It can contain many of the items listed above and then some more personal, fun anecdotes as well. Here’s an example of the front page of a wedding newsletter.

unique wedding ideas newsletter 1

This was made in a word processing program in an 11 1/2″ x 17″ format. When folded, it will be the size of a standard piece of notebook paper. Not too big and not too small for the information that it will contain. You will have the front, inside left, inside right and back that can be printed on. The above is a sample front page. It contains two articles, baby/kid photos, a welcome to their guests and a quote they are using in the wedding.

To make this idea your own, inside include articles/stories/items like:

  • The Wedding Party
  • The Ceremony Program
  • Embarrassing Stories
  • The Reception Menu
  • Fun Marriage Advice and Tips from Family and Friends
  • Small Reception map (from ceremony location)
  • A thank you to your guests
  • A Seating Chart or Table Assignment

Design it in your color scheme and/or theme — really make it personal. Just think, you can avoid a lot of clutter on the tables, the designing of multiple stationery items and be a bit more green with your wedding by using this unique idea. By designing it yourself and printing it at a local printers, you can save money too.

It’s such a great idea and one that you can continue through the years for holidays, births, graduations and so on. Start a tradition of your very own at your unique wedding.
